Blog Comments: Week 14 and Week 15 too!

RANDOMIZER. You might need to RELOAD if the same name is displayed twice or if one of the names is yours, etc. And if you like doing comments, remember: there is an extra credit comment option available every week too.

Update April 30: I've added in the latest stories and microfictions, and please feel free to do BOTH assignments now, Week 14 AND Week 15, using this randomizer. That will help you if you are trying to finish up this weekend. And don't forget: there are also extra credit comments you can do for both Week 14 and Week 15.

If you are in MYTH-FOLKLORE:   If you are in INDIAN EPICS:

TWO PEOPLE / FOUR COMMENTS. Starting in Week 3 and then for the rest of the semester you will be commenting on people's stories, along with their Introductions. So, that means you will visit the blogs of TWO people, leaving a comment on a story and also on their Introduction (four comments total).

  • Read and comment on the Story you are assigned. (You'll see mostly stories from Weeks 2, along with some stories from future weeks, plus some microfiction too!)
  • Read and comment on the Introduction. After commenting on the story, comment on that person's Introduction. If you have already read and commented on that person's Introduction, pick any other post you want at their blog to read and comment on.

Blogger Comments. You will find detailed instructions here for leaving comments on Blogger blogs, along with tips for how to read the comments you get at your blog: Leaving Comments - Viewing Comments.  Some students in class are using WordPress, but you will see that the process for leaving comments there is basically the same as Blogger.

Names. Getting to know people's names is hard, especially in an online class. I'd suggest using "Hi Melanie!" or something like that at the start of your comment just so that you can at least try to let the name sink in. :-)

Bookmark! When you meet someone in class you want to stay in touch with, bookmark their Introduction post in your collection of class bookmarks. That way, it will be easy to find their blog again.

Replying to comments. If you want to reply to a comment someone left at your blog, the best way to do that is to find the person in the Class Directory and leave a comment on THEIR blog. If you reply to their comment at your blog, they might or might not know about that, but if you leave a comment at their blog, they will get a notification.

Substantial Comments. Each comment should be 60 words minimum, and of course you can write more. There are all kinds of ways to do a word count; here's one possibility: Word Counter.

Problems? If you run into any problems leaving a comment on someone's blog, just let me know. Send me an email with the person's blog address tell me what the problem was, and include your comment in the email. That way I can pass the comment along to the person and help them to fix up whatever problem might be keeping people from leaving comments.

Declaration. Here is the Declaration you will complete. And if you want to keep on commenting, you can do the Extra Credit Blog Comments assignment too if you want!

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I followed the instructions to find TWO people to connect with.

I wrote FOUR comments total = two comments for each person.

LENGTH. Each of my comments is at least 60 words long.
