Technology Tips: Themes for your Firefox Browser

Although I am a big fan of Firefox, I really did not like the look and feel of the current version of the browser, so I changed the theme to something I like better. For this Technology Tip, you will learn how to change the theme of your Firefox browser (you can always change it back to the default theme later if you want.). To do this assignment, you need to have the Firefox web browser already installed on your computer (there's a Technology Tip you can do for installing Firefox).

STEP ONE: Browse themes. To see the available Themes for Firefox, go to the Firefox Add-Ons website, and choose Themes from the list of areas in the left-hand column. You can use the Advanced Search to specify your operating system and other parameters to limit your search.

STEP TWO: Add theme. When you find a theme you like, you can add it to Firefox by clicking the Add button. The theme I use is White Hart. You will have to restart Firefox after you have added a new theme.

STEP THREE: Manage themes. To manage themes - selecting a current theme, deleting themes you are not using - just go to the Tools - Add-Ons - Themes menu in Firefox (that's how you can switch from one theme to another, delete themes you are not using, etc.).

STEP FOUR: Screenshot. To get credit for this Tech Tip, you need to take a screenshot of your Firefox browser, showing the new theme, and send that to me via email. Here are the instructions for taking a screenshot. Make sure you use this subject line: TechTip Firefox Theme.

When you have sent in the email, you can do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit. Here is the text of the Gradebook Declaration you will complete:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have completed the Technology Tip assignment and sent the instructor an email as required.
