GoogleSites: Google Site YouTube Video

Make sure you do the GoogleDocs Tech Tip first, before you do any other tips this semester.

It's easy to add a YouTube video to a Google Site page!

STEP ONE: Go to your Google Site. You should be logged on to Gmail or some other Google service. Go to Google Sites, and select the site where you will add a page with the YouTube video.

STEP TWO: Add a new page to your Site. Click on the site, and then add a new page. Give your page the name "You Tube Video" (here are the instructions for adding a new page).

STEP THREE: Find a YouTube video. In a DIFFERENT browser tab, go to YouTube.com and find a video you want to include in your page. You will need the webpage address (URL) of the video, which you can copy and paste from the browser bar, or from the box over on the right-hand side of the page:

STEP FOUR: Insert the video into your site page. Go back to the new YouTube Video page at your own Google Site, and select the Insert menu, and then choose Video: YouTube from the list of options (it is way way way down at the bottom):

Now, paste in the URL (address) of the YouTube video in the space provided. You can also decide if you want a title bar to appear with the video on your page. Click Save when you are done.

STEP FIVE: Save your new page. Use the Save button in the upper-right-hand corner of the page to save your work. You should now see the video displayed on your page!

When you are done, send the address of your Google Site to me in an email. Make sure you use this subject line for the email: TechTip Google Site Video.

When you have sent in the email, you can enter this tip on your GoogleDocs Checklist and then do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit. Here is the text of the Gradebook Declaration you will complete:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have completed the Technology Tip assignment and sent the instructor an email as required.
