WRITING | Point of View - The Hero's Quest - Naming Your Characters

The Hero's Quest

Even if your story is not about a mythical hero on a mythical quest, your story should still be about some kind of hero who is on some kind of quest. In fact, you might want to think about every character in the story being on a quest of their own. Have you figured out just what each character in the story wants? As Kurt Vonnegut said, "Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water." So, take a minute to think about each and every character in the story and just what it is that the character wants. If you have that clear in your mind, you will find it much easier to tell the story.
