Ning: Embed a YouTube video in your Ning Profile Page

You may have already added a video to a blog post; here are instructions for Adding Video to a Blog post. For this Tech Tip, you will add a video to your Ning profile page.

STEP ONE: Find video.  You need to find an online video that gives you an "embed" code. If you are looking at YouTube, you will find the Embed Code button directly under the video; click on the Embed button and the code will be displayed in a text box where you can cut and paste it. It's a good idea to choose a custom width and make the video 500 pixels wide (it will adjust automatically for the height). That's a good width for the Ning profile page text box.

STEP TWO: Add video.  To add the video, you will need to find the TEXT BOX on your profile page. Then just click on the EDIT button in the upper right-hand corner of the box to edit the contents of the box. Follow the instructions here for adding the video; it's just like when you add the video to a blog post.

To finish up, post a reply in the Ning Tech Tip Discussion Board. There is a Ning discussion board where you can post Tech Tip items by "replying" to the discussion board for this tip: Tech Tips Discussion Board: Ning YouTube. For this Tech Tip, you need to post a reply which contains a link to your profile page and a screenshot showing how the video looks embedded, along with any comments you want to make about your video selection.  Then, after you are done, you might enjoy taking a look at the videos that people might have shared there by clicking through to their profile pages, and you can make replies to their replies if you want of course - or you can leave a comment in the Comment Wall at their Ning page!

When you have sent in the email, you can enter this tip on your GoogleDocs Checklist and then do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit. Here is the text of the Gradebook Declaration you will complete:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have completed the Technology Tip assignment following the instructions provided.
