Week 9 Assignments

I hope you enjoyed the Review Week last week, and this week it's time to get back into the reading once again. I hope you will enjoy this week's reading options, finding a good story you want to work with, maybe trying an entirely new kind of storytelling style this week!

SPRING BREAK. The way that Spring Break works is that Week 9 is spread out over that whole two-week period. You have the regular reading and storytelling assignments due on March 11-12-13, and I would urge you to finish everything on Friday, March 14, so that you can have a really nice long break! (I'll be on break myself, traveling to Texas.) If you are doing schoolwork over the break, the end-of-week assignments for Week 9 are not due until Sunday, March 24, and you can also work ahead. The Week 10, Week 11, etc. assignments are all available there in Canvas, so just pop open the Modules and go-go-go. :-)

Reading - Storytelling - Project - Feedback - Comments - Extra Credit

READING:

Click on the link for your class:

Here are the Notes guidelines plus all the different Reading Notes Strategies you might want to try. Now that we are in the second half of the semester, that is a great time to begin experimenting, based on what you learned about the reading notes so far and also trying some new things to see what strategies might be helpful for your own reading and writing style.

Tuesday due date: READING

4 points  appx. 1-2 hours
Wednesday due date: READING  4 points appx. 1-2 hours

STORYTELLING:

Thursday due date: STORYTELLING

4 points  appx. 1 hour

Here are the assignment guidelines: Week 9 Storytelling. It's time to get back into storytelling mode after the Review Week last week!

PROJECT - FEEDBACK - COMMENTS:

Here are the final assignments for the week:

PROJECT

8 points  appx. 60-90 min.

Some of you had a free pass in Week 8, in which case you will be turning in an assignment for Week 9. You will find all the assignment links as usual on the Project Overview page.

If you did not have a free pass for Week 8, you might be eligible for a free pass this week; see details below. To take advantage of the free pass, send me an email with Project Week 9 in the subject line, put "Free Pass" in the body of the email, and then do the Declaration as usual. Your next project assignment will not be due until Week 10.

  • In order to take advantage of this free pass for a STORYBOOK, you need to have published your first story in Week 8. If you have not published your first story yet, then you need to turn in a project assignment this week.
  • In order to take advantage of this free pass for a PORTFOLIO, you need to have added a second story to your Portfolio in Week 8. If you have not added the second story yet, then you need to turn in a project assignment this week.

I hope that makes sense, and if you have any questions, just let me know!

PROJECT FEEDBACK 6 points 45 min. - 1 hour

Here are the instructions for Week 9: Project Feedback. This week there is an option to read a project from the other class if you are curious to see what's happening there.

BLOG COMMENTS 4 points 30 min. - 45 min.

The Blog Comments are a mix of stories this week, mostly from Week 9 but also from earlier weeks. I hope you will see some stories that you enjoy, and you might even get some ideas for storytelling strategies you want to use.

EXTRA CREDIT

I would urge you to do at least some extra credit every week now that we're into the second half of the semester; it's a great way to build up a cushion of extra points that you might need if you happen to miss some assignments later on as things get more hectic in your other classes. You can check this Progress Chart to see if you are on track for the grade you want to receive in this class. See Week 2 Extra Credit for details.

You can do these extra credit options any time during the week.

Extra Reading. Make up missed reading or explore new topics in your class: Myth-Folklore or Indian Epics.

OR

Microfiction. You can try writing some short-short-stories.

4 points  45 min. - 1 hour

Extra Commenting

OR
