Tech Tips: Flipgrid in a Blog Post

If you have done any of the Flipgrid options (Hello, Show and Tell, Makerspace, What's New), then that means you have a Flipgrid blog post at your blog. For this Tech Tip, I will show you how to embed your video in the blog post that you created. Here's an example of Flipgrid in a blog post

Here is a step by step of how this works:

STEP ONE: Go to the video you want to embed. You should have a link in your blog post that will get you started, either the main class grid, or the specific topic, or you might already have a link to your specific video. Open the Flipgrid in a separate tab, and navigate until you see your actual video. For example, here is one of my videos.

STEP TWO: Get Embed Code. To get the code you need to embed the video in a blog post, click on the little paper airplane icon (I think that is what it is!) in the upper right-hand corner.

After you've posted, you can do the Declaration! Choose the Embed option, and then copy the response card embedding code:

STEP THREE: Edit your blog post. Now, go to your blog post, and open it for editing. You are going to need to edit the HTML code view. So, to see how that works, first type "EMBED" down at the bottom of the post where you will put the video, and then switch to the HTML view. Look for where you see the word "EMBED" that you typed, and paste in the code you copied from Flipgrid. I would recommend changing the width="500" to width="100%" and then it will fill the width of your post. When you are done, hit publish!

STEP FOUR: Edit again as needed. Does the video display fit? You can play with the width and height parameters until you get something that looks good.

And when your blog post looks good to you with the Flipgrid video on display, you are good to go; you can do the Tech Tip Declaration. And feel free to repeat this Tech Tip multiple times to add a video to any Flipgrid blog post in your blog; that will give you some good practice in getting used to the HTML view of a blog post and the power of embedded content!
