Tech Tip: Google Art Project for Chrome
The Google Art Project is pretty amazing, and this extension brings the beauty of that art into your browser so that when you open a new (empty) tab, you will see an art image for the day. If you don't like the image, you can cycle through the images at random to find one that you do like. For example, this gorgeous painting by Henri Rousseau has been my tab image all day today:
STEP ONE. You can install the extension from this Chrome page: Google Arts and Culture.
STEP TWO. After you have installed the extension, you should see a new image every day appear in a blank tab. To find out more about the image and/or to cycle to a new image, use the controls in the lower left-hand corner. The title is clickable and will take you to the art object's page at the Google Art Project.
STEP THREE: BLOG POST. To finish up this Tech Tip, write a blog post with your thoughts about this tool (useful? or not?) and about your use of artwork online. Are you an image-oriented person? Do you like going to real museums? Browsing museums online? Do you create your own art? (One of my absolute favorite things about working online is being able to enjoy digital images all day, every day as part of my work.)
