Tech Tip: A Padlet of Our Pets

A Padlet is kind of like Pinterest in the sense that you "pin" things to the board. It has an address of its own as a webpage (like the Advice Padlet you may have seen already), and you can also embed it in other spaces too. If you want to make a Padlet of your own, there's a tip for that too: Your Own Padlet.

For this Tech Tip, I've created a Padlet of Our Pets where we can share pictures of our pets! This will also give you practice in using Padlet, and maybe you will want to create a Padlet of your own (a free account allows you to create up to three free Padlets). Follow the instructions below to add your pet(s) to the Padlet:

1. Go to the Padlet, and click on the pink + button in the lower right hand corner.

2. Type something in the title box, like the name of your pet.

3. Type something in the text box below. Include your name, and make a link to your blog introduction post. To make a link, just highlight some text, and then click on the "link" icon to paste in the address and make the clickable link.

4. Upload a picture of your pet by clicking the upload button below the text box. When you click the upload button, you will see this dialogue panel on the right, prompting you to choose a file to upload.

When you are done, just click anywhere outside the box, and you will see how your addition looks. If you want to edit it some more, you can do that too.

Finish up: Blog. Write up a quick blog post where you say something about Padlet. Have you used this before? (It is very popular with K-12 teachers, which is how I learned about it.) Do you like working in these shared spaces? Can you think of a way you could use a Padlet of your own for a project? (If so, there's a tip for that: Your Own Padlet.)

To finish up, make sure to include the phrase "Tech Tip: Padlet Pets" in your blog post title and use "Tech Tip" as the label on the post; then you can do the Declaration.
