WRITING | Active Verbs - Direct and Indirect Speech - Short and Sweet

Activate Your Active Verbs

For the story to stay alive, it's got to keep moving - and that means: action, action, action. With active verbs, the audience can see the characters in action. With passive verbs, the characters disappear and the story falls flat. Passive verbs can be useful in scientific papers or expository essays, but they are not good tools for storytelling. Bring your story to life by ALWAYS using active verbs.
