Orientation Week: Course Communication

Here is some important information you need to know about class communication for this online course.

Read the Class Announcements EVERY DAY. Every morning, Monday through Friday, there are daily announcements for the class. You can see the current announcements in Desire2Learn and also at the course Ning site. You can also sign on to an email list so that you will receive the Announcements in the form of a daily email if you want. It is very important that you read these daily announcements. If for some reason you miss the announcements one day, you can find all the previous announcements at the daily announcements website.

ASK QUESTIONS! Since we do not have regular class meetings, it is very important that you use email to stay in touch. If you have a question, please ASK. Send me an email at laura-gibbs@ou.edu. If you write to me during the week (Monday-Friday), I should be able to answer your email promptly - often I can answer immediately, and I will definitely get you an answer by the end of the day. I check email less frequently over the weekend, so if you send me an email on Saturday or Sunday I may be less prompt in responding, but I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Please call me Laura. I'm not a professor (I'm just an instructor), and it's fine if you just call me Laura!

SAVE your email for this course. Your "Sent Items" folder will automatically contain copies of the email that you send me, which is great: that way, in case an email gets lost you can easily send it to me again. In addition, I would strongly recommend that you create a special folder in your email where you can save the emails I send you about your work for the class.
