Tech Tips: Firefox Browser

It can be very handy to have multiple browsers on your computer so that you can test out webpages using different browsers; sometimes a website will behave differently in one browser compared to another.

About Firefox: The Firefox browser is an open-source product of the Mozilla Foundation, and Firefox has been around since 2002. Mozilla Foundation is a non-profit organization, so that makes Firefox a very different product than the Google search engine or Apple's Safari. You can find out more about Firefox at Wikipedia.

For this tip, you will install the Firefox web browser on your computer and set up the basic Firefox Preferences.

STEP ONE: Install Firefox. To install Firefox, just go to the Firefox website and follow the instructions there. If you need some help, check out the Firefox Installation Help Pages.

STEP TWO: Set Preferences. From the Firefox menu, select Preferences and see if there are some features you want to configure. Your thoughts. Write up a blog post with your thoughts about using Firefox. Have you ever used Firefox in the past? What are your first impressions? What are your priorities in terms of browsers and the features that are important to you? Do you have any thoughts about similarities/differences between Firefox and the browser(s) you currently use?

To finish up, make sure to include the phrase "Tech Tip: Firefox" in your blog post title and use "Tech Tip" as the label on the post; then you can do the Declaration.
