WRITING | Repetition - Surprise, Surprise - Short and Sweet
Surprise, Surprise
The counterbalance to repetition is surprise - either the surprise you can create in your readers, or the surprises that the characters in the story experience, or a combination of the two. As the author, do you want to keep things secret from both the character(s) in the story and also from your audience, or do you want to let the readers in on the secret, so that they have the pleasure of knowing something that the characters in the story have yet to find out...? As the author and the knower of all secrets, the choice is yours!
