Technology Tips: Twitter

Twitter is a fun and easy way to communicate with people online using tiny statements, like you might use in an online chat. These little Twitter posts are called "tweets." I keep a Latin Proverb Twitter account under the name Aesopus, for example. :-)

STEP ONE: Create account. To create an account, just go to Twitter.com and follow the instructions provided. IMPORTANT NOTE: You can "skip" the steps about inviting others to join Twitter from your contacts; just click where it says "Skip" in the upper right-hand corner when you get to those steps.

After you create your account, you can start posting! Posting to Twitter is easy and fun; I use a simply Firefox browser plug-in so that I can post to Twitter from inside my browser. There are all kinds of ways to post to Twitter, including ways to post from your phone. To find out more, visit the Twitter FAQ page.

STEP TWO: Send me your Twitter address. When you are done, you need to send me your Twitter address - which you can discover by clicking on the Profile link at Twitter.com. The address should simply be Twitter.com plus your username; for example: http://twitter.com/Aesopus. Make sure you use this subject line for the email: TechTip Twitter.

When you have sent in the email, you can do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit. Here is the text of the Gradebook Declaration you will complete:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have completed the Technology Tip assignment and sent the instructor an email as required.
