Storybook: Revise and Publish Introduction
Revise. After last week's assignment, you should have received comments back from me about your first version of the Introduction (the comments are marked with ==> in the body of the email). You may find it easiest to print out the email and check off the comments one by one, to make sure you take care of all of them. Also, please do not assume that the comments you received back from me are the only things you need to revise. I am not a perfect proofreader - in fact, NO ONE is a perfect proofreader. So, in addition to taking care of any suggestions you get from me and from other students in the class, you also need to spellcheck and proofread your Introduction one more time.
Publish the Introduction. You need to publish a new webpage at your Storybook website. Here are the instructions for Adding a Page to Googlesites . Although you are not required to include an image on your Introduction page, you will probably capture your readers' attention if you choose a good image for the Introduction page. If you include an image, make sure to include the required image information also. Please be sure you add the new page as a "TOP LEVEL" page, not as a subpage; if you make it a subpage, you will have a lot of manual adjustments to make to the navigation later.
Word Count. Make sure that you have checked your published Introduction for the word count (word count tips). The Introduction should be between 400 and 1000 words in length.
Spellcheck and Proofread. Make sure you have spellchecked your Introduction (spellcheck tips) and that you have proofread it by reading it out loud. If you do not spellcheck and you do not proofread, you may receive a zero for the assignment. It will take you less than five minutes to read your assignment out loud, so make sure you do that! Here are some specific proofreading tips.
Coverpage Link: If you are using GoogleSites, the new link to your Introduction will be added to your Coverpage automatically, but you may need to adjust your Navigation Panel to make sure the links are all visible and in the right order. If you have suppressed the Navigation Panel in order to do your own design, then make sure there is a clear link to the Introduction from your Coverpage. There must be either a link to the Introduction in the Navigation Panel and/or a link to the Introduction that you have added somewhere to the Coverpage. You can decide what option is best for you!
Access Your Coverpage. Now, you need to check and make sure that the page has published correctly, and that everybody can access your Introduction, starting from the list of Storybooks at the class website. So, go to your class list:
Find your Storybook on the list, and click on the link to make sure it goes to your Coverpage - and then follow the Introduction link you created to get to the Introduction. If you are able to get to the Introduction, you are done with this assignment!
Submit the assignment
|
The answer to each question must be YES in order to turn in the assignment:
1. Is the link from the class Storybook list to your Coverpage working?
2. Does the Coverpage contain a link to your Introduction page? 3. Did you spellcheck your Introduction before publishing it? 4. Did you proofread your Introduction by reading it out loud to yourself? 5. Is your Introduction 400-1000 words long?
|
When you have published your Introduction, notify the instructor by email. In the email, you MUST cut-and-paste the questions, and confirm that the answer to all the questions is "yes" before you turn in the assignment. You do not have to put a "yes" next to each one; it's fine if you say "answer to all is yes," or something like that. Please give the email a subject line based on the class you are enrolled in ("MythFolklore Storybook Introduction Published" - "Indian Epics Storybook Introduction Published").
