Tech Tip: Create Your Own Padlet

For this Tech Tip, you will create your own Padlet that you can use for saving and sharing materials you find online, and you can also use it for collaborating with others, like in the Advice from Past Students Padlet you saw earlier this semester (I'll be asking you to contribute your advice to aPadlet like that at the end of this semester for next semester's students).

1. Sign up. To start, go to Padlet.com and sign up for a free account. You can create up to three Padlets with the free account.

2. Make a Padlet. Use the +Make a Padlet button on the left hand horizontal menu to start the process of creating your new Padlet.

3. Choose the layout. For collecting materials you find online, the Wall option is a good one. For this tip, I made a Padlet to use in collecting materials for my Hanuman Storybook: It's...Hanuman.

4, Configure the Padlet. Using the edit panel that pops up on the right, choose a title for your Padlet, along with a description. You can also choose the wallpaper. along with other customization options. Plus, you can change those options at any time later. When you're done, click the pink NEXT button at the top right.

5. Configure security. I usually use the public can-read option for my research Padlet; you can decide what combination works best for you. When you're done, click the pink NEXT button at the top right. You'll get a notice that you are ready to start posting.

6. Add content. To add content, just click on the pink button in the lower right-hand corner. Each post-it can contain a title, text, link(s), plus an image or video.

Go ahead and add a few content items to your Padlet, and then you can write up your blog post.

Finish up: Blog. Write up a quick blog post with a link to your Padlet, telling us how you plan to use it.

To finish up, make sure to include the phrase "Tech Tip: My Padlet" in your blog post title and use "Tech Tip" as the label on the post; then you can do the Declaration.
