Word Counts
Many of the assignments in this class have a minimum and/or maximum word count, which means you will need some kind of easy-to-use tool that will let you do a quick word count. Both of these are Tech Tips, so try them out for extra credit!
- Google Documents. Learn how to use Google Documents to create online documents, access them from any computer, and share those documents with others. GoogleDocs has a built-in spellchecker AND dictionary AND word count tool.
- WordCountTool.com. Just paste the text into the box and then hit the "Submit" button. You will see the number of words displayed below the box.
- Online Course Lady. Yes, I also put a javascript word counter here at the wiki which you can use. Paste the text into the box, and click "Calculate."
- Ning Word Counter. As a new experiment for Spring 2012, I have put a word counter in the right-hand column of the Ning. Let me know if that experiment is working; I hope it will be helpful if you need check your word count for a blog post or commenting assignment.
