GoogleSites: Creating a New Website with GoogleSites
This is how you create a new WEBSITE with GoogleSites. For your Week 2 Internet assignment, you will create a practice website. Then, in Week 4, you will create another website to use for your class project. (If you want to add pages to an existing GoogleSite website, follow these instructions for ADDING A NEW PAGE to an existing GoogleSite.)
STEP ONE: Go to GoogleSites; if you are prompted to log on, use your regular Google log on. Make a site by clicking on the Create New Site button.

Make sure you choose BLANK TEMPLATE as the option to start building your site.

Title: You will need to give your site a name, which is also going to be part of your site's address online. Keep it short, because this title will appear on every single page of your site. GoogleSites will then automatically generate the web address for your site based on the title you have chosen.
- If this is your practice website for Week 2, give your GoogleSite a name based on your name, for example: "Laura Gibbs" (or, if that name is already taken), "Laura Gibbs, OU Instructor"
- If this is your Storybook website for Week 4, give your GoogleSite a name based on your Storybook project, for example: "Robin Hood Tales" (you can decide later on just how you want the title to display on your coverpage).
Theme. You can change the template theme at any time, so don't worry too much about which template you choose now.
Options. The default options are all good; you do not need to make any changes here. Please do NOT change the option that makes your site available on the Internet; you need your site to be accessible to other students in the class. (If you are concerned about privacy, you are not required to put your name anywhere on the site pages; that's up to you.)
Finished! When you are done, click the Create Site button at the bottom of the screen.
