Technology Tips: Google in Your Language

Make sure you do the GoogleDocs Tech Tip first, before you do any other tips this semester.

For this Tech Tip, you will choose a different language for your Google interface. You can change the interface back to English later - but maybe you will want to keep the interface in a different language, just for fun! Bilingualism is good for the brain. :-)

STEP ONE:  Go to Google.com. If you want Google to remember your language preferences, make sure you are signed in with your Google account (there is a "Sign-In" link in the upper right-hand corner of the Google screen).

STEP TWO:  Click on Language Tools to the right of the search box or, if Language Tools does not appear there, click on the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner and choose Settings: Language Tools. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and choose your language... or pseudo-language, such as "Pirate" or "Elmer Fudd." Take a screenshot of the resulting Google screen. Here is the Google screen in Polish, for example:

STEP THREE:  Email. Send me an email with your screenshot. Please give this subject line to your email: Tech Tip Google Language.

When you have sent in the email, you can enter this tip on your GoogleDocs Checklist and then do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit. Here is the text of the Gradebook Declaration you will complete:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have completed the Technology Tip assignment and sent the instructor an email as required.
