Technology Tips: Wikipedia in Many Languages

In addition to the English-language Wikipedia, there are Wikipedias in other languages. These can be very useful for different kinds of research questions. For this Tech Tip you will choose a Wikipedia in another language, search that Wikipedia, and send me a link to the article you chose.

STEP ONE:  Choose. Go to the main Wikipedia.org main page which shows a Wikipedia globe, surrounded by languages, with an additional list of languages at the bottom of the page, arranged according to the number of articles in the Wikipedia for that language. Choose the Wikipedia for a language other than English that you have some familiarity with. For example, I frequently use the Latin Wikipedia, which is Vicipaedia. Here is the Cleopatra entry:

STEP TWO:  Search. Search the Wikipedia you have chosen for anything you are interested in - a place, a person, an animal, a concept, anything at all. Take a screenshot that shows some part of the page.

STEP THREE: Create a blog post. For this Tech Tip, you need to create a blog post with the title: Foreign Wikipedia Tech Tip. For this Tech Tip, your post should include the screenshot you took of the foreign language Wikipedia article along with a link to that article; you should also tell people what language is being used (it might be obvious to you, but not obvious to others).  Here's my sample blog post. You might want to use the "Tech Tip" label so you can keep track of all your Tech Tip posts.

Finishing Up. After you've shared your Wikipedia article in a blog post, you're done with the Tip. Don't forget to do the Declaration.
