Class Progress

Your final grade is determined by your total points at the end of the semester. If you end up with 410 points at the end of the semester, you will receive an A. If you have 360 points, you will receive a B. If you have 320, you will receive a C. A minimum of 301 points is required to pass the class with a grade of D. The grade is up to you; for those of you who just need to pass the class for Gen. Ed. credit, I totally understand. This system is designed so that you can decide on your goal and proceed accordingly!

Canvas Gradebook. In the Canvas Gradebook, you can see your total points, and it will always be "100%" because you get full credit for every assignment you complete.

Dead Week: Finish in Week 14. If you keep up with the weekly work, you will have more than enough points for an A at the end of Week 14. Dead Week (Week 15) is there as a kind of "extra" in case you get behind and need a few points at the last minute to reach your desired grade.

Finishing before Week 14. You can finish early with an A in Week 13 or in Week 12 — or even earlier; just work ahead and/or do some extra credit assignments. When you get the points you need, you are done! You can let me know when you have finished the class by filling out this form: Course Completed.

SPRING 2021: Because of the ongoing pandemic and the lack of a Spring Break, I have built two break weeks into the semester. You can find out how that works here: Spring 2021: Break Weeks.

You can use this chart to track your progress week by week, and the more extra credit you can do to get out in front of these numbers, the better! Most people are busier at the end of the semester, so if you can bank some extra credit early, that will be a big help when life gets more hectic later on. As you can see, this chart is based on finishing in Week 14, so that you can have a Dead Week to prepare for your exams in other classes:
