Google Sites Fonts

When you are using a Google Site theme, that theme automatically manages the visual display of your content, including the background, color scheme, and also the fonts. If you want to change the fonts for your content, it is much better to change the fonts by changing the theme font rather than by trying to change the font in every chunk of text in every page of your site. If you manage the theme font, that means you can change your mind at any time and update all the pages of your site automatically simply by making adjustments to the theme!

Manage Site: Colors and Fonts. From the "Gear" setting option in the upper right-hand side of the screen, choose the Manage Site option. Then, from the left-hand menu, down near the bottom, choose Themes, Colors and Fonts. You will see the name of your current theme displayed here, and below the name of the theme you will see these items which you can adjust. Some items have font adjustments, some items have color adjustments; you'll see how that works as you explore the different options. For example, if you click on Entire Page - Text, you will see that your chosen Theme has a default font, but if you click on Font (so that the Theme button is unchecked), you can choose from a huge dropdown list of fonts to use as the default instead of the Theme default. You can choose any of these fonts and see what they look like in the preview of your site down at the bottom of the screen. When you change the Page Font, it changes BOTH the Site Title font AND the Content font automatically. So, find the new font you want to use! (If you want to get more ambitious, you can change the Site Title font and the Content font separately.)

SAVE. Make sure you click the red Save button to save your customizations.

Troubleshooting. If your font choices are not showing up, could it be from copying-and-pasting? If you copy and paste from another program, you might have copied some font codes with the text. To strip that out, you need to copy and paste into a very plain text editor or into a simple webform like the one at the bottom of this page. Then, you can copy the plain text version into your Google Site page.

Also, you can use the Tx item in the menu bar to remove any formatting you accidentally added that is overwriting your site preferences; highlight the content you want to reformat, and then click the Tx button. That should remove any manual formatting and restore to site defaults:

Below is a text box you can use to strip out any extra formatting in the text you are copying into a Google Sites page:
