Technology Tips
: FREE Kindle eBooks

There are lots of FREE Kindle eBooks, and the Kindle is a very handy eBook option because you can read Kindle books in so many different ways - you can read them on an actual Kindle, but you can also read them using a mobile app (I use the iPad/iPod app to read my Kindle books), and there is also a Kindle Cloud Reader that will work in any browser (that's how I use Kindle books when I am on my laptop computer or Chromebook). For this tip, I'd like you to find at least one way you might read a Kindle book, and then grab one of the free Kindle eBooks that relate to the Mythology-Folklore and/or Indian Epics class.

STEP ONE: Choose a way to read Kindle. At the Amazon Kindle website, you can find lots of information about different mobile apps for reading Kindle books, and you can access the Kindle Cloud Reader without having to install anything - it's browser-based.

STEP TWO: Grab a free book. I've identified about 200 free Kindle eBooks that relate to Mythology-Folklore and to Indian Epics. You can see them at random here, or browse them all here. So, find one that you like and "purchase it" at Amazon - I put "purchase" in quotation marks because the books are free. You will then be able to read it with the reading interface you decided was best for you. You can also find all kinds of other free books at Kindle; the FreeBookSifter.com website has over 18,000 free Kindle eBooks in a searchable catalog.

STEP THREE: Post reply in Ning Tech Tip Discussion Board. There is a Ning discussion board where you can post Tech Tip items by "replying" to the discussion board: Tech Tips Discussion Board: Kindle eBooks. For this Tech Tip, you need to post a reply which contains the name of the book you downloaded, along with the type of Kindle reading option that is best for you. I'm also curious if you read ebooks, if you have used any etextbooks for school, and just what your thoughts are about ebooks in general. Then, after you are done, you might enjoy taking a look at the Kindle books and comments that people might have shared there, and you can make replies to their replies if you want of course.

When you are done, you can enter this tip on your GoogleDocs Checklist and then do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit. Here is the text of the Gradebook Declaration you will complete:
