Upload the Images You Use in Blogger

When you want to include an image in a blog post or a webpage, there are two very different ways to do that: you can upload a copy of the image or you can remote link to someone else's copy. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you choose the upload option. Here are the two reasons why:

1. Many sites do not allow remote linking to their images. It may look like the image is working at first, but then the image will either disappear from your page, or you will see an error message like this, where the owner of the other website is telling you very clearly that remote linking is not allowed. This does not mean you are not allowed to use the image; instead, it means you need to make your own copy of the image and upload it to your page instead of remote linking. There are quite a few sites that do not allow any remote linking of images: Wikipedia, Project Gutenberg, Pixabay, etc.

2. The site may remove the image, and then it disappears from your page. Even if the remote linking seems to be working, you have no guarantee that it will last. If the image is removed from the original site, it will also disappear from your page. If you upload the image, though, you will have your own copy instead of trying to rely on someone else's copy somewhere else on the Internet; the image will remain on your page even if it is removed from the page where you originally found it.

Copying and Uploading Images

Copy the image. To make a copy of the image, you can usually just drag-and-drop to your desktop. Alternatively, you can use the power of the right-mouse-click to save the image to your desktop, and you can delete it from your desktop when you are done.

Upload the image. Exactly how you upload the image depends on the editor you are using. If you are writing a blog post using BLOGGERjust click on the image icon in the editing bar, and then choose the upload option:

You can then use the options in the editing bar; for sizing the image "Large" is usually the best option for a Blogger blog post:
