Week 2 Blog Comments: Introductions

Here's the randomizer! You can reload the page to get more names if you see the same name multiple times, if your name comes up, etc.

If you are in MYTH-FOLKLORE:   If you are in INDIAN EPICS:

I hope you will have fun with the first blog commenting assignment of the semester! Each week the blog comment assignment consists of four comments. For the Week 2 assignment, you will be commenting on the Introductions of FOUR different people. As you'll see, I use a randomizer to spread the comments out. This way everybody should get at least two comments, and most people should get three or four. It's the power of random! Plus you will continue getting comments on your Introduction all semester long; you'll see how that works next week.

Every time you reload the page you will see four names at random, with a link to the person's Introduction post. You can reload for more; you might need to reload if names are repeated or if you see your own name as one of the four. Make sure you use the column for the class you are in: Myth-Folklore on the left; Indian Epics on the right.

Blogger Comments. You will find detailed instructions here for leaving comments on Blogger blogs, along with tips for how to read the comments you get at your blog: Leaving Comments - Viewing Comments.  Some students in class are using WordPress, but you will see that the process for leaving comments there is basically the same as Blogger.

Substantial Comments. Each comment should be 60 words minimum, and of course you can write more. There are all kinds of ways to do a word count; here's one possibility: Word Counter.

Names. Getting to know people's names is hard, especially in an online class. I'd suggest using "Hi Melanie!" or something like that at the start of your comment just so that you can at least try to let the name sink in. :-)

Bookmark! When you meet someone in class you want to stay in touch with, bookmark their Introduction post in your collection of class bookmarks. That way, it will be easy to find their blog again.

Replying to comments. If you want to reply to a comment someone left at your blog, the best way to do that is to find the person in the Class Directory and leave a comment on THEIR blog. If you reply to their comment at your blog, they might or might not know about that, but if you leave a comment at their blog, they will get a notification.

Problems? If you run into any problems leaving a comment, I've got some tips here, along with a form you can use to send the comment to me, and I'll take care of getting it posted: Comments Help Page.

Declaration. Here is the Declaration you will complete. And if you want to keep on commenting, you can do the Extra Credit Blog Comments assignment too if you want! Plus the Week 3 Comments are available now if you want to just jump in and do that now too; for Week 3, you'll be commenting on people's stories. :-)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have left comments on FOUR different Introduction posts as chosen by the randomizer.
Each of my comments is a MINIMUM of 60 words in length.
