Week 9 Assignments

I hope you enjoyed the Review Week last week, and this week it's time to get back into the reading once again. I hope you will enjoy this week's reading options, finding a good story you want to work with, maybe trying an entirely new kind of storytelling style this week!

Reading - Storytelling - Project - Feedback - Comments - Extra Credit

READING:

Click on the link for your class:

Tuesday due date: READING

4 points  appx. 1-2 hours
Here are the Notes guidelines plus all the different Reading Notes Strategies you might want to try. Now that we are in the second half of the semester, that is a great time to begin experimenting, based on what you learned about the reading notes so far.
Wednesday due date: READING  4 points appx. 1-2 hours

STORYTELLING:

Thursday due date: STORYTELLING

4 points  appx. 1 hour

Here are the assignment guidelines: Week 9 Storytelling. It's time to get back into storytelling mode after the Review Week last week!

PROJECT - FEEDBACK - COMMENTS:

Here are the final assignments for the week:

PROJECT

8 points  appx. 60-90 min.

Some of you had a free pass in Week 8, in which case you will be turning in an assignment for Week 9. You will find all the assignment links as usual on the Project Overview page.

If you did not have a free pass for Week 8, you might be eligible for a free pass this week; see the conditions below. To take advantage of the free pass, send me an email as usual with Project Week 9 in the subject line, put "Free Pass" in the body of the email, and then do the Declaration as usual. Your next project assignment will not be due until Week 10.

  • In order to take advantage of this free pass for a STORYBOOK, you need to have published your first story in Week 8. (But note: if your plan involves having four stories total in your Storybook, you should not take the free pass this week; turn in the revisions to the first story now so that you can move on to the second story in Week 10.)

  • In order to take advantage of this free pass for a PORTFOLIO, you need to have added a second story to your Portfolio in Week 8. If you have not added the second story yet, then you need to turn in a project assignment this week.

I hope that makes sense, and if you have any questions about what you will be doing for Week 9, just let me know!

PROJECT FEEDBACK 6 points 45 min. - 1 hour

The Project Feedback is ready, with the option to read a project from the other class if you want.

BLOG COMMENTS 4 points 30 min. - 45 min.

The Blog Comments are a mix of stories this week, mostly from Week 9 but also from earlier weeks.

EXTRA CREDIT

I would urge you to do at least some extra credit every week now that we're into the second half of the semester; it's a great way to build up a cushion of extra points that you might need if you happen to miss some assignments later on as things get more hectic in your other classes. You can check this Progress Chart to see if you are on track for the grade you want to receive in this class. See Week 2 Extra Credit for details.

You can do these extra credit options any time during the week.

Extra Reading. Make up missed reading or explore new topics in your class: Myth-Folklore or Indian Epics.

4 points  45 min. - 1 hour
Extra Commenting 4 points  30 min. - 45 min.
Tech Tips.  2 points 15 min. - 30 min.
Growth Mindset/Feedback 2 points   15 min. - 30 min.
Learning by H.E.A.R.T. 2 points   15 min. - 30 min.
Wikipedia Trails
2 points   15 min. - 30 min.
These additional extra credit options are for the end of the week OR you can use them at the START of the new week, looking back on the week you just finished:
Famous Last Words 2 points   15 min. - 30 min.
Back-up and Review 2 points   15 min. - 30 min.
