Week 6 Internet: Storybook Comments

The Week 6 Internet assignment is available now, where you will be commenting on other people's Storybooks. This week, you will be looking at FOUR Introductions. You will look at TWO ASSIGNED Storybook Introductions, and ONE CHOICE (new), and ONE CHOICE (re-visit).

TWO ASSIGNED STORYBOOKS: Last week you looked at people appearing after you in the list. This week, go to the Storybook list for the class you are in and find the Storybooks of the TWO people directly BEFORE you in the class list. (NOTE: If you are the first or second person at the top of the list, you need "wrap around" - when you hit the top of the list, go on down to the bottom and work up.) There MUST be an Introduction at the Storybook for you to read. If one of your assigned Storybooks does NOT have an Introduction yet, you do not have to wait. Instead, just choose another Storybook with a published Introduction to read and comment on. If there is also a story available and you want to read the first story also, that would be great!

FREE CHOICE: NEW: For one of your free choices, please choose a new Storybook from the list that you did not look at and comment on for Week 5. Make sure it has an Introduction for you to read.

FREE CHOICE: REVISIT: For the other free choice, please choose one of the four Storybooks that you visited last week so that you can read and comment on the Introduction this time, in addition to the coverpage. If none of the Storybooks you visited last week has an Introduction for you to read (or if you read all their Introductions already and commented on them last week), choose another new Storybook to look at.

Each comment needs to be 150 words minimum, providing detailed feedback about their Introduction and also feedback about their coverpage, too, if you have not commented on this Storybook before. If there is a story and you want to read the story also, by all means do so! Here are some prompts if you are not sure what to write about - and you can find some more tips for providing feedback here:

Introduction Comments: Does the first sentence grab you? Does it seem like a good fit with what you expected from the coverpage? As you get to the end of the first paragraph are you clear about the topic and where the Introduction itself is going? Are you getting the information you need about unusual places or people or ideas? Are the transitions from paragraph to paragraph helping you to follow the author's thoughts? What kind of mood is the Introduction creating, and does the mood seem to fit the kinds of stories that the Storybook will offer? Is there a good sense of transition at the end of the Introduction into the world of the stories?

Coverpage Comments: See the Week 5 assignment for some prompts for commenting on coverpages.
